Post 5- Job requirements in the design industry.

There are many jobs in the design industry such as Art director, broadcast designer, logo designer, Art production manager and many more.
The job of the Art director is to make sure the illustrators and production artists hand in there work on time and to the correct standard. Art directors need highly advanced training in design as they will often be doing design work themselves. Th job of the Illustrator is very different to the Art director, Illustrators may do work for books, magazines and other printed forms of media. They could also do work on textiles, packaging, wrapping paper, greeting cards and calendars.
In the design industry there is a set heir-achy. You do not need to abide by this heir-achy if you chose to be a freelance and independent designer. Being a freelance designer would mean that you would have set up your own contracts, manage your own accounts and buy your own equipment. You would also require the basic skill of being able to run a small business.

Post 4- Martin Smith of Ford cars...

Martin Smith born 1949 has been a car fanatic ever since he was a little boy, sending letters to the Mini designer Alec Issigonis asking how to become a car designer.  

He began his career as a car designer at Porsche in 1973. Smith then moved to Audi in 1977 he stayed there for the larger part of the 80's and 90's. In 1997 he moved to Opel to design the Opel speedster and the 2004 Astra.  In 2002 he became the Executive design director for Opel. 
In July 2004 Smith was driven to work at Ford cars and became Executive design director for Ford in Europe.  

post 3- legality and ethics

When I say legality and ethics I mean the issues of copyrighting, intellectual property, quoting and referencing sources of information and content restriction.
Copyright- copyright is the law that prevents the use of information or media by a person without consent from the creator of that information or media. copyright is very popular in tee-shirt design. 

post 2- Rebranding

Rebranding can be used for many things such as recreating the image of a company, drawing more customer focus to the company and fuelling the flow of revenue. Rebranding can also be rather risky, changing the logo for the sake of just changing can effect the popularity of the company.

One of the most well known rebrands would have to be the Woolworths logo changing from the heavy block letters to the thin font with the apple peel 'W'. 

I believe that the rebrand has breathed a new life into the logo. It was remade to draw a new focus the 'Fresh food people' image.
With the new design I believe that the designers were trying to tie the logo to their message of 'The Fresh Food People'. The logo reflects Woolworth's commitment and reputation of providing Australian shoppers with quality fresh food and groceries. 

post 1- Adobe CS6.

Adobe has added many new features to Adobe Photoshop, with the release of Adobe Creative Suit 6 that will help with many aspects of designing. 

Some of the features that have been added include:

- An updated gradient engine allowing the gradient to be scaled to 1000% instead of 150% in CS5.

- The ability to change the colour of multiple layers all at the same time. 

- Create and add dotted or dashed borders to images.

One of the most welcomed features is the layer searching feature. Which allows searching through multiple layered images a lot easier to do. 

There has also been many updates on old features. Such as the ability to create shapes to exact values, there also several more improvements to the shape tool.The cropping tool has been has change so that it is non-destructive meaning that the area that has been removed will be saved so that you can revert the crop without having to start from the beginning. 

Adobe has also added a new set of functions to improve workflow called workplace. Workplace includes many functions such as layer filtering; Which allows you to filter out certain layers to find the ones which you need, preset migration and sharing, background saving and Auto-recover from crashes. All of these functions will greatly improve workflow.
